How to Host a Nesting Party

Hosting a nesting party can be a fun way to prepare for your baby’s arrival and organize all of those baby essentials! So grab your besties and let’s get to work. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to host a nesting party.

1. Set a Date and Invite Guests

I suggest choosing a date within the third trimester and after your baby shower. That way you have help to organize EVERYTHING. When choosing a date, keep in mind of nearby holidays so you don’t overlap. I was expecting my baby in early January so I scheduled the nesting party early to mid November due to the holidays. Invite close friends and family who are willing to help and participate.

2. Create a To-Do List

Make a list of tasks you want to accomplish during the nesting party. This could include organizing baby clothes, setting up the nursery, decluttering, washing/sanitize bottles, create nursing station, assemble furniture, organize baby materials, or creating postpartum bin. I recommend using post it notes and placing them in an easily accessible location such as the nursery door.

3. Prepare Supplies

Gather all the supplies you’ll need for the tasks. This might include cleaning supplies, storage bins, labels, baby items, tools for assembling furniture, etc. Try your best to get everything you need but don’t fret if you need to make a last minute store run.

4. Plan Refreshments

Prepare snacks and drinks for your guests. Decide if you want to keep it simple with finger foods or a meal. I personally chose a meal for everyone to enjoy but finger foods make it easy to keep working.

5. Set Up Workstations

Depending on the tasks, set up different workstations. For example, have an area for sorting baby clothes, another for assembling furniture, and so on.

6. Assign Tasks

When guests arrive, assign tasks based on their skills and interests. Some may be great at organizing, while others may enjoy assembling furniture or decorating!

7. Celebrate and Enjoy

Throughout the party, take breaks to celebrate accomplishments and enjoy each other’s company. This is also a great time to share stories and advice with your guests. Remember to keep it easy! The mom-to-be should be doing the LEAST amount of work to avoid over exertion.

Additional Tips:

  • Keep it Light and Fun: Nesting parties are meant to be enjoyable, so keep the atmosphere light and positive.
  • Safety First: If you’re doing any heavy lifting or using tools…stop and ask someone else to do it.
  • Flexibility: Be flexible with your plans and tasks based on how things progress during the party.
  • Include Everyone: Make sure everyone feels included and valued for their contributions.

By following these steps and tips, you can host a successful nesting party that not only helps you prepare practically but also creates lasting memories with loved ones.
