While going on trips and new places can be exciting! Sometimes it’s just not in the budget. This is a great opportunity to share with your kids that they can have just as much fun with these at home spring break ideas.

My kids absolutely love these. Think of “spirit week” themes they have done at school. Examples include Rainbow Day, Career Day, Sports Day, TuTu Day, Dinosaur Day…you get it! Having themed days just adds something special to the day.

Yes I know. Cleaning during break?! Yes. This is something my mom did with me and I will continue the tradition. Check out my “How To Get Kids To Clean” blog post to make this successful! During spring cleaning, I teach my kids valuable lessons on deep cleaning. They do get rewarded for this since it is technically vacation. We go over lessons that cover places we often forget to clean, purging your closet/toys, and re-teaching a basic cleaning skill. I feel these are very important skills children should learn to carry into adulthood.

Many people don’t know but your local library offers more than just books. They also have events and workshops just for kids. Most libraries will even have special activities during spring break. Simply google “ (city name) library spring break” and their calendar will pop up. This can feel like a mini field trip for your kids. Plus, while you’re there you might as well check out some books. Last year, my kids and I crafted jewelry and bags.

Here is a scavenger hunt for kids to fill out while going. If you’re able to go with another adult. Split the kids up into teams and see who can fill it out first or fill out the most. As another bonus, here is an app that scans plants and tells you all about them.

Having a big event at the end of the day makes for a special way to end the night. Some examples my kids love are: Talent Show, Karaoke Night, Dance Battle, Movie Night, and Nerf Gun War.
